Let’s Talk About Love: Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes and American Cuban singer-songwriter Camila Cabello recently confirmed that they’re officially a couple, after months of denying dating reports. They may have started off as friends, but these days they are pop music’s most-talked about couple.

But when did it really start? Let’s take a look at how Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello went from being BFFs to boyfriend and girlfriend.

In a nutshell, ever since they met at the 2014 Austin Mahone’s Live On tour, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have shared an endearing friendship. The duo released their first collab ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ in November 2015. Since then dating reports have surfaced from time to time, but the duo maintained that they are just good friends.

In June 2019, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello kicked off the summer with the release of “Señorita.” The video is full of shots of the two dancing closely, lying on top of each other, and nearly kissing. A month later, the duo was photographed holding hands and kissing. This chemistry continued during the MTV 2019 VMAs, where the two gave an intense and steamy performance, leaving fans on the edge of their seat.

On March 9, 2020, Camila Cabello also got super real about her relationship with Shawn Mendes in a brand new interview. “I want more. We want more. Honestly, we’re just being in our twenties,” Camila said. The couple is now in quarantine together in Miami.

Between the Lines, Episode 11

Well, well. What innuendo treasures will your friendly host Aatira unearth today? Watch as she deciphers these song lyrics to unravel the not-so-innocent meanings behind some of these songs. From Shakira to ABBA, Aatira digs out the dirtiest lyrics from some of the most iconic numbers out there.

Our segment, Between the Lines, kicked off earlier in the year. Our intent with this project has been to dive deep into some of the most iconic songs out there. We unveil the dirty secrets hidden behind all the sugar-coated lyrics. We might’ve missed some of these raunchier lines because we were either too young and naive. Or…they were just hidden that well under a string of puns and metaphors.

Fair warning, these Between the Lines videos might just end up bursting your rosy childhood bubble. But then again, who would’ve thought that ABBA could hold some of the dirtiest lyrics out there? So, see you learn a thing or two along the way.

Perhaps that’s what makes us appreciate these songs even more. Subtle seduction is an art of writing. It’s a lot easier to be crass and blatant. But these artists have actually put in quite a bit of effort in crafting something sensual yet beautiful. And that’s what Between the Lines brings to the table: a new perspective.

So, hop on as Aatira Kakroo takes you on quite the wild journey.
