Aespa, comprising of members Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning, first made waves when Lee Sooman, head of SM Entertainment made a strange announcement. He announced that they would be the first idol group in history to have AI avatars that can interact with fans.

And, what arrived was just that.

Characterised by its charismatic and powerful choreography, Black Mamba, was an immediate success. The music video, which caught eyeballs for many reasons, good and bad, surpassed 23 million views in the first 24 hours since release, making it the most viewed debut music video for a k-Pop rookie group, in K-Pop history. Further, the track itself, reached No. 1 in 8 countries on iTunes, marking an impressive feat for the newbies. And in no time, their Spotify accounted boasted 150,000 monthly listeners – that ain’t easy to do folks. So, check out the track that made an explosive landing.

Well, it would seem that this debut truly is the good, the bad, and everything in between. With record-breaking numbers and dedication under their belt, they’ve become the new kids on the block. And, only time will tell how far this goes.
